Pheasant chick on the blog

As we drove at some speed down the track to catch my train as a first step to London, South Africa and Australia, a mother pheasant burst out of in front of us sending chicks in every direction. This little one would fit comfortably in a small hen's egg.

I didn't have time to follow them into the field this time, so I snapped this quick photo.

I got round to posting it now from 24 stories up in a Melbourne hotel room.

June in the garden

I love the buttercups in the lawn and by the pond.

Here is te trough with the pansies now grown bigger.

Foxgloves are a beautiful wild flower.

You can see the foxgloves from a distance.

A favourite tree

I've pampered this lovely little oak tree for at least 20 years.

It is looking so healthy now. The felled sycamore to the left used to take all the light.

Now the oak catches sunshine for much of the day and is growing much faster...
