Rabbit running by the pond

We have been encouraging this rabbit to eat the grass and not the flowers...

View across the pond into the woods

I particularly love the bluebells above the yellow of the broom flowers.

They came from a skip full of garden waste on the roadside in Skipton last autumn.

Early evening light on the fields

I love the way the sunlight illuminates the top of the walls.

What I am seeing from my window is really spectacular. Not quite captured in this photo.

Curving wall in early summer garden

The yellow broom flowers in the foreground are beautifully lush.
Next to them are big velvety leaves. Both went in last year, so we will see what grows...
The lawn needs a cut in this photo,... which is what I spent the afternoon on.
I like to get it very short at the beginning of the summer. Why?
Because later in the year, when the thousands of tadpoles in the pond become tiny frogs, the whole lawn will be full of little frogs and it is impossible to cut.
So, watch out for the short lawn tomorrow and the long lawn later in the year.

Perfect Lawn

In London last week, one of my colleagues pointed out a 'perfect' lawn in a London club. Nothing there but grass.
Well, this is my idea of a perfect lawn. Rich, diverse and beautiful.

Ivy on the wall

We had a visit from a stray ram over the winter. He and a flock of sheep ate everything including the marigolds and the ivy.
Now that summer is here, the ivy is showing new leaves.

Sky Angel

As I lay on the lawn in the bright sunshine, the sky filled with unusual clouds.
Here is one of the 'sky angels' who passed over...

A flower in the evening

A little panaroma view

I came back from London after a few weeks away - Paris, a retreat and a weekend course in London.
Everything is in leaf or bloom. A few delights and a few sad missed moments in the passing of the year.
Some of the tulips have bloomed and passed.
Most of all, I am happy that the Apple tree is in full bloom and leaf.
Last winter a mouse or rabbit or something ate the bark from around its root and I was afraid the apple might not do well this year.

So, a beautiful end of afternoon, walking barefoot around the pond and watching the comings and goings of thousands of tadpoles...

Delights of spring.

Daffodills (slightly out of sequence)

It is May now and the dafffodills are gone, but they are such an important marker of the year that I wanted to include these bright beauties from April.

A lot of growing and very little eating - the plants in the polytunnel enjoying spring

The water trough with pansies

The tiny pansies were self seeded last year outside the front door. I gave them a new home in April. They seem to like it under the trough.
